Coaching Staff

Brandon Hille is your Open Head Coach, bringing 24 years of experience and a lifetime of passion to the mat.

He started wrestling at the age of 5, competing for the Wakeeney Wrestling Club, Trego High School, and Simpson College.

Brandon's extensive coaching career includes time at Russell High School, Trego High School, and the Bonner Springs Wrestling Club. His favorite memories range from the personal thrill of wrestling at Fargo Nationals to the pride of coaching his brother to his second state title and his son to his first state qualification.

A fan of Dan Gable and inspired early on by his mentor, Wyatt Frohling, and his Uncle Dave Hille, Brandon knows the value of tough training. His go-to technique is the Fireman’s carry/High C, and you might hear "No More Tears" by Ozzy Osbourne playing in his practice room.

Outside of wrestling, Brandon is an avid outdoorsman who loves hunting and fishing, and he’s a dedicated cook who enjoys everything from processing wild game to making his own sourdough.

Coach Brad Rittinghouse is our Head Girls Coach for the season, bringing 4 years of coaching experience to the team.

Brad began wrestling at age 12. His favorite memories include watching his kids compete at the state tournament and seeing a high school teammate win a state title.

He looks up to his former high school coaches, Mike Holloway and Dan Burns. His favorite technique is the Tripod Stand Up, and he counts Steve Mocco and Ridge Lovett as his all-time favorite wrestlers.

When he's not on the mat, you can find Coach Brad pursuing his hobby: smoking meat!

Coach Joe Tapia is the Novice Head Coach, bringing his passion for wrestling to the mats!

He started wrestling at seven and is currently in his second year of coaching.

His favorite memory is going to the State with everyone in high school.

Coach Tapia's preferred technique is Tilts, and he credits his own coaches as his biggest wrestling inspirations.

Outside of the room, he enjoys leather crafting and staying active.

Brandon Jobe is the Bonner Springs High School Head Coach and a foundational figure in the Bonner Springs wrestling community, having dedicated his life to the sport since starting to wrestle at age 5. His extensive athletic journey took him through the Piper Kids Club, Piper High School, Labette Community College, and Fort Hays State University. This is his 20th year coaching, including 17 years as the BSHS Head Coach, during which he also spent 17 years coaching Clark Middle School and 7 years with BSWC. His favorite memories include watching his son, Judson, make the state finals and witnessing any athlete achieve a hard-earned goal. Coach Jobe's favorite athlete move is the Low Single; he credits his success to mentors like Eric Akin and Jody Thompson, and his ultimate competitor is Jordan Burroughs—a "man of FAITH AND FAMILY." When not in the wrestling room (where MUSTARD is the song of choice!), he's devoted to family time, coaching his kids' sports teams, fly fishing, and golf. Coach Jobe has been incredibly influential in the lives of many BSWC athletes, and they are blessed to have him in their corner!

Coach Jimmy Vogel started wrestling at the age of 10 and has been coaching for 22 years. His favorite wrestling memory is winning a high school state title.

He currently serves as an Assistant High School Coach at Bonner. Coach Vogel's favorite move is the half, and his all-time favorite wrestler is Dan Gable. He looked up to wrestling mentors Tom Ballard, Dale Taylor, and Bob Vaughan.

When he's not on the mat, Jimmy enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. His go-to song for the wrestling room is "Lunatic Fringe."

Coach Joe Tapia is a testament to dedication, having been with the club since 2007 and officially coaching for nearly 5 years. Though he never wrestled himself, Joe jumped in to learn the sport, earning his coach's card and becoming an invaluable mentor.

His favorite memories are centered on family, specifically watching all four of his sons wrestle and the proud moment when his son Jackson won a state title. Coach Tapia's favorite technique to see executed is the duck under.

He looks up to all the coaches he's worked with and learned from over the years, and he names all of his sons as his favorite wrestlers of all time. Outside of the wrestling room, Joe enjoys spending time with his family.

Meet Your Coach: Brandon Spiess

Coach Brandon Spiess brings 20 years of coaching experience to the mat, having started his own wrestling career at the age of 6.

His most cherished wrestling memory is coaching his daughter's finals match when she won State. Coach Spiess's favorite move is the cradle, and he looks up to wrestling legends John Smith and Cael Sanderson (his favorite wrestler of all time).

When it's time to fire up the room, his go-to song is "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. Outside of wrestling, you can find Coach Spiess golfing. We're thankful to have him in the corner!

Coach Shane Daniels began his wrestling journey at the age of 5. This marks his second year coaching with the kids club.

His favorite wrestling memory is getting to wrestle with his brother during his freshman year of high school. Coach Daniels's go-to technique is the single leg, and his all-time favorite wrestler is Spencer Lee. He credits his brother and Coach Jobe as the people he looked up to in the sport.

When he's playing music in the room, he turns up "Bodies" by Drowning Pool. Outside of wrestling, Shane enjoys fishing and spending time with family and friends. We appreciate him returning to the room to work with our athletes!

Coach Kenny Hurley began wrestling at age 11, and this is his second year coaching.

His favorite wrestling memory is going to regionals during his junior and senior years. Coach Hurley's favorite move is the Fireman's Carry. He admires two wrestling legends, David Schultz (his favorite wrestler of all time) and Aleksandr Karelin, as his idols in the sport.

To get the room energized, Coach Hurley plays "Bodies" by Drowning Pool. Outside of the wrestling world, he enjoys hunting (deer, coyotes, bobcats, fox), working on go-karts with his son, and most of all, spending time with his family. The athletes are lucky to have him in their corner!
